Band Members

HOT WIRE band members have over 150 years of combined  performance experience across multiple genres of music making them one of the most versatile and creative teams!

 

GUITAR/VOCALS: Eric Lynch is not only a B&L research scientist but a talented and creative guitarist, vocalist and songwriter.  Eric is loving his relatively new role in the Rochester music scene. His role with the Canandaigua-based Lakeside Drifters the past few years has been foundational for his public performances and his breakout with Hot Wire has expanded his reach. His 12 string flatpicking adds a unique sound and his speed and dexterity provide an energetic drive that helps to define the Hot Wire vibe.  His love for the outdoors, especially the Adirondacks, is brought to life in his many original songs.  Steve and Eric first met in Feb 2023 with a common vision to build exactly what Hot Wire has become.   Eric's talents extend to songwriting and include (among others):   Broke Train, Mountains are Calling, Upstate, Clear My Mind, Death Valley Flood, Peak Bagger, I'll Ride Away. 

MANDOLIN/VOCALS: Steve Cataldi is a retired Chemical Engineer, IT and Project Manager who has performed as an actor and musician in Rochester all his life.   He enjoys pushing the mandolin envelope past his traditional  bluegrass roots into jazz and rock  and is ultimately expanding into Americana, Acoustic music with Hot Wire.   He was lead vocalist and mandolin player for 40 years with Gone Fishin' and has performed  around NY State and Canada including local shows, Palmyra Fiddlers Festival, Brantling Bluegrass Festival and the Thousand Island Bluegrass Festival and has opened for Edgar Loudermilk Band, Ralph Stanley II and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.  He is currently still playing with Jerry Falzone (and/or Kevin Higgins) with Liars Moon and has enjoyed  sell out Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young Tribute shows as well as Tom Petty Tributes.   His influences range from John Denver to Dean Martin and New Grass Revival, Sam Bush and David Grisman.

BASS:  Rochester native, Don Feigel has been part of the music scene for a number of years. His passion to perform is evident in every driving beat.Don studied classical bass at Fredonia, and continues to perform with the Penfield Symphony.  He has a passion for major influencers like Ray Brown, Paul Chambers, and Ron Carter. Jazz is the foundation of his playing, and keeps it moving with his solid downbeat.  He is very excited to be part of this mixed genre of old and new BlueGrass, Rockabilly, Swing, and Americana. FIDDLE +: Mike Hoeschele started fiddlin when he was 25. He had played with Big Eyed Phish (a DMB tribute band) for 15+ years. Mike is a versatile musician who also played harp, guitar, mando and fiddle with Julie Dunlap and High Maintenance for about 10 years. He has also performed with Johnny Bauer, Billy Parker and Arugula, a contra and English Country Dance band. Influenced by Boyd Tinsley, Stuff Smith, John Blake and countless bluegrass and country fiddlers. Studied with a couple classical teachers. 

GUITAR/VOCALS:  Chris Hall has recently joined the Hotwire band. Chris grew up in the Hilton/ Greece area and has played Blues and Rock guitar for over 50 years. His influences include Eric Clapton, BB King , Santana, Red Volkaert, Joe Robinson, and slices of many others. Chris studied under Rochester’s Kevin Hart and jazz
and chord guru Dick Longale in the late 70’s. It was a wonderful experience. It gave a great foundation
for any venue of music. Over the years, Chris has had the privilege to play with great musicians. Bands include CRW, Kashmir, Crystal, Grouptherapy and the All Inn Band. Bandmates are extended families. These are lifetime friendships that are priceless. Chris retired in 2023. It has opened new music opportunities in venues which expands his music vocabulary and allows the journey to continue.

DRUMMER & PERCUSSION: Capt. David Weinberg, has been kicking around the music scene since the mid-60's, having played with The Ravens, The New Aliens, The Buddhahood, Pan Gia Steel Band, Todd East, and late night jazz with The Manny Duran quartet in NY City. David currently plays with  The Hot Wire Bluegrass band, Red Means Go, and The Lakeside Drifters. He's also jammed with The Tokens, and the Leon Russel band. David is a student of Nigerian drum master Baba Olatunji, and Santana percussionists; Raul Rekow and Karl Perazzo. Professionally, and outside of music, he is also an Emmy award winning TV camera operator, a licensed boat Captain, and a USAF Veteran.
